Welcome to πŸš€ Progress. My weekly update where I share my stories and behind-the-scene insights into my journey playing the Internet game and seeking to provide value for this world as an entrepreneur/creator. Every week I will transparently show my progress from the beginning on.

Topics of the week:

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈBecoming a running coaching
🧲 Lead Generation Tactics

This week I have shifted my efforts a little. I put work on my brand project on the back burner and focused on my favorite interest: Running. I know I switch between topics too much, but I like to do what interests me most at the time.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Becoming a running coaching

Last week I decided to share my running expertise for the first time. I placed two ad on eBay Kleinanzeigen offering personalized, individual 1:1 coaching.

My goal: to share and pass on my experiences and the positive aspects of running. I decided to do this for free initially to improve my coaching skills and gather feedback to improve my training methods.

This was the text I shared in the ad:

When you start running, you experience a variety of physical and mental changes that can have a positive impact on your health and well-being:

  • Improve cardiovascular health
  • Weight management – losing weight
  • Reducing stress and improving mental health
  • Increased energy and self-confidence
  • Being and staying fit

I am convinced that running can offer added value for everyone. So if you want to start running, have an ambitious goal in mind or just want to lose weight, then I have something for you.

As an ambitious runner, triathlete and qualified fitness and health trainer (B license), I have successfully mastered all distances up to the marathon and gained a lot of experience in 6 years of endurance sports.
I was also able to run some ambitious times:

  • 10km – 34:31min
  • Half marathon: 1:18h
  • Marathon 2:58h

So if you want to benefit from my knowledge, I have this unique offer for you.

My offer for you:

  • I analyze your abilities, we set clear goals and create an individual 6-week training plan tailored to your needs and goals.
  • Initial consultation by email or in person, depending on your wishes
  • Personal and fast support for questions and problems (via WhatsApp or email)

Why is the offer free of charge?

My main aim is to share and pass on the experience and positive qualities of running. I also want to improve my skills as a coach and gather feedback to improve my training methods.

If you are interested in my offer, please send me a message with a short text about yourself, your previous running experience and your running goals.
My training capacity is limited to 5 runners for now. First come, first served πŸ˜‰

I look forward to accompanying you on the way to your goals.

With best regards
Jan ✌️

I think it was Alex Hormozi’s post below that got me started.

I realized that running is something in which I can give advice to other people. Why? Because I’ve gained the experience myself and expanded my knowledge over the years. I have proof for why I am good. I have worked hard, endured pain and learned. I think that’s why people will trust me. It gives authority.

Since I placed the ad, it has been seen by 138 people. Three of them wrote to me directly. All three have very individual problems and different ambitions.

First of all, it was difficult to find out the goal and background of the people. To avoid having to work out individual questions each time, I used Google Forms to create a questionnaire that I can now use:

Link to the questionnaire

What I haven’t really realized yet is what expectations people have of me. This is a question that I need to include in the questionnaire. In my opinion there are multiple needs a customer could have: personalized training plan, 1:1 personal coaching in person, running technique training, strength training for running, feedback on the training process and more.

I am now figuring out to serve these people best to get a good testimonial. It’s already a lot of effort to do this but I think it’s gonna be worth it.

Niching down as a running coach – serving a too broad audience / customer base

I also realized that I had designed my ad in a very general way. It wasn’t really tailored to a specific target group, so the three inquiries I received were all very different.

To solve this problem, I have to ask myself which customers I want to target more specifically. I myself am not a health-oriented runner. I’m all about performance. Getting the best out of myself and finding out where my limits are. Of course, a healthy body is part of this, but it’s not the main goal.

Perhaps this is the market I can best address. Why? Because I understand these people and their needs better.

In the running market, these are the people who are going through what I have experienced over the last few years. I’ve gone from a runner who ran 10km in 45 minutes to a runner who is able to run under 35 minutes. I went from a 4-hour runner to a marathon runner who runs under 3 hours. For me this could mean helping people reach Sub 40 as a Sub 35 10k guy.

These are all very ambitious times that you have to put a lot of work into in order to achieve a consistent time. You sacrifice something for the desire to achieve these goals.

I will work out a concept for that.

🧲 Lead Generation Tactics

This week I realized how easy it could be to generate leads. Greg Eisenberg (@gregeisenberg – 372.9k followers on X) is a master of the craft.

He recently started posting long posts with good, self-drawn mind map images, all of which get a high number of views and bookmarks and offer the reader added value. The clever thing is that he seamlessly integrates his projects/companies into the posts and promotes them. Very clever in my opinion.

I also noticed that he has some one-page landing pages where he offers information products in exchange for an email address. These pages are so simple but effective I think. Everyone is able to create such an information product and give it away for free for an email address.
